Enough about cocktails - we'll move on to gifts

With father's day fast approaching we thought it would be an idea to run through our site and make suggestions for a father's day present.

There is an immense range of possible gifts for you to choose from but perhaps we should start with a card.

At Moonpig you can choose from a multitude of different styles of card and customise them to your own taste. It must be easy because Theresa can do it! Enter the date you want it sent and they even post it for you. as there's no post on Sundays you'll need to time it to arrive the day before!

Then you'll need to decide on a present.

There's a For him page on our site with a few links that may be of interest. What we'll do in this blog is make suggestions from some of our other pages.

We'll start with the Gifts and gadgets page. We've put several links on this page. Although many of the sites are similar they all offer something unique. Browse through them and you'll find a gift that's a bit different - and if you don't you're sure to find something silly!

On the Outdoor and garden page there are several ideas for presents. There's garden games, hampers, barbeques, garden furniture and many more gift ideas as well as the usual stuff you'd expect for the garden.

For an exciting present for dad why not try an activity? You could buy dad a gift of flying a 'plane or helicopter, shooting the rapids, skydiving or driving a racing car. Browse the linked sites and you'll be suprised at the activities available. Why not make it a family day out and take part in something together?

You'll always find a present on our wines and spirits page. The jewellery page and fragrances page aren't just for women - most of the linked sites on these pages have sections for men so there's bound to be a gift for dad there somewhere!

Would dad like the gift of tickets for a sporting event - or perhaps for a show. We have a page devoted to events and tickets for you to browse. There really is a wide choice of entertainment if you browse through the links provided.

To round the day off why not get mum to put on a gourmet banquet? Don't worry, you can have luxury gourmet meals delivered to the door by Banquet In A Box. You really MUST view their site!

Good luck with the gift hunt.

Singapore Sling

Well, for the second in our cocktail series we've gone for a classic old favourite, the Singapore Sling.

You'll need :

  • A half measure of gin (Theresa uses a little more!)
  • A measure of cherry brandy
  • Lemon juice - about a quarter of a lemon
  • Ice - cracked but not crushed
  • Soda water to top up.

Shake all but the soda water, strain into a tall glass, add a couple or three lumps of ice, top up with the soda water.

Decorate with a cocktail cherry and slice of lemon.

Serve with a straw.

You can find all the stuff on our drinks page.

Stay sober!

If you make a cocktail you'll need all the gear!

We published a cocktail recipe on Sunday. Of course, if you're going to make cocktails and long drinks you'll need all the accoutrements that go with it. You may need glasses, cocktail mixers, swizzle sticks and umbrellas at the very least! You can find it all, and much more, on the Barmans web site. Why not look now so you'll have no difficulty making that special drink for dad on fathers day?

Whisky cocktail

We were thinking today, what can we blog that's a bit different? We've come up with publishing cocktail (or long drink) recipes from time to time. Today we have an easy to make whisky cocktail, Scotch Paradise.

You'll need : sugar syrup, desiccated coconut, 50ml measure of scotch whisky, a dash of coconut syrup, milk.

Moisten the edge of a highball glass with sugar syrup. Roll the glass in desiccated coconut to coat the outer edge. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the Scotch Whisky, the coconut syrup and top with milk (enough to fill the glass). Shake well and pour into the glass. you can find all the ingredients at The Whisky Exchange. Don't be put off by the name, they provide a fantastic range of spirits, liquers, mixers and other cocktail ingredients. If you would like to view other sites, particularly for champagnes and wines try our drinks page.

Good cocktailing.

Father's day - 15 June 2008

With father's day approaching in the UK we've been looking through our site, http://www.giftfinder4u.co.uk/, to check that we have a selection of suitable gifts.
It seems to us that there is already an abundance of choice but we will continue to review our affiliate merchants to increase and improve the range available.
We'll briefly review what we consider would make admirable father's day presents with something to fit everyone's budget.
Our first link is to "Gifts and gadgets" - www.giftfinder4u.co.uk/giftsandgadgets.htm. We've provided fifteen links to merchants who between them provide a huge number of gifts and gift ideas - gifts, gadgets and gizmos for virtually any interest, some serious and some downright silly. Browse through the merchants and you're sure to find something a little different!
Then there's "Outdoor and garden" - www.giftfinder4u.co.uk/outdoorandgarden.htm. You can find barbeques, garden lights, garden ornaments, garden furniture, outdoor games, traditional garden items and plants, hammocks and much more more from the merchants listed on this page.
Next we come to the "Activity" page - www.giftfinder4u.co.uk/activity.htm - which provides access to a huge choice of exciting activity days. Drive a racing car, pilot a plane, shoot the rapids, drive a tank - and many other days out for you to choose from.
Our "Wines and spirits" page - www.giftfinder4u.co.uk/winesandspirits.htm - again includes a wide range of choice. As well as the usual wine and spirit suppliers there's also a site which provides a countless number of malt whiskies and another for home brewing!
On the "Lingerie" page - www.giftfinder4u.co.uk/lingerie.htm - there is one site just for men and some of the others offer menswear, there are also male products or sections offered by many of the sites listed on both the "Jewellery" and "Fragrance" pages.
The "Events and tickets" page includes links to providers of tickets for a multitude of shows, musicals and sporting events.
The "For him" - www.giftfinder4u.co.uk/forhim.htm - page has only a few suppliers. However, you can customise and personalise a card, buy a tie or find some aftershave or male perfume.
Finally is our "Sound and vision" section - www.giftfinder4u.co.uk/soundandvision.htm - where you can buy virtually anything musical as well as cds, dvds and downloads.
Is dad into computer games? It could be worth looking at the "Children" page.
We very much hope that you find something suitable, special and perhaps even a little bit silly, from the huge range of choice we offer. If at first you come across nothing please bookmark us as we are constantly adding new links!
Good luck from giftfinder4u.

Site update

Well, we've made a couple of amendments to our site.
A lot of the box enclosures have been taken out and the whole thing seems much more readable. Let us know what you think : e-mail admin@giftfinder4u.co.uk.
We've made the site as user friendly as possible. All pages are fully linked to the others and the merchant links open in new windows so that you don't close our site in error.
We'd also value your opinion on the link graphics. Some of the pages seem to be full of flashing "icons". You may like these animated graphics or you may prefer staic graphics. Let us know your presference.
We continue to review new merchants to add to the site. In particular we are seeking additions to the "For her" and "For him" pages. We are also considering adding a page devoted to parties - fancy dress and "paries in a box" type suppliers. If theer is any particular type of product or gift you have neen unable to find agin, please let us know.

First Blog

This is the first blog published by giftfinder4u, the exciting new website directory that's full of gift ideas. Whatever gift you need be sure you visit the website : http://www.giftfinder4u.co.uk/ .
Whether it's a birthday present, a gift for mum on mother's day, something for dad on father's day, a Christmas present, flowers or chocolates to say thank you, a day out, an activity day or perhaps something (slightly) saucy on the lingerie page you're sure to find it here.
You could arrange an exciting day out driving a racing car, send champagne, buy perfume or jewellery or send a beautiful bouquet of flowers. There's also a children's gift area and we will shortly be adding additional sections such as electronic games and a sound and vision page.
